Anna Ovanessian

Anna Ovanessian is a pre-licensed counsellor completing her Master of Counselling at City University of Seattle in Vancouver. She offers trauma-informed, culturally responsive counselling for people navigating anxiety, grief, addiction, shame and self-blame, relationship challenges, and the lasting effects of trauma. Through her practicum at a women’s centre supporting survivors of violence and relational trauma, Anna has seen how meaningful it is to be met with consistency, care, and respect, without being rushed, judged, or fixed. She also understands what it can feel like to navigate systems that do not always reflect your background, and she brings humility, curiosity, and cultural responsiveness to every session. Anna draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and somatic approaches, working with both the mind and the body. CBT helps identify the patterns behind anxiety, self-criticism, and feeling stuck while building practical tools for change. Somatic approaches bring attention to how stress, trauma, and emotion are held in the body, supporting greater awareness, regulation, and a sense of safety. Her sessions are collaborative, paced to your comfort, and grounded in curiosity, compassion, and respect. Sessions are virtual, 50 minutes, weekly or biweekly, with a sliding scale available and receipts provided. If you are unsure where to begin, a free 15-minute consultation is a chance to ask questions, learn about Anna’s approach, and see whether you are a good fit.
